How is Anya doing?
Aside from the underlying neurological issues, moving
disorder, delayed development, etc; Anya's overall health really fluctuates a lot. We have had take her to the ER
four times, three of which ended in 3-4 day stays. She is very sensitive to any kind of bug. If the boys are a
little sick, she seems to follow with very sick. Very congested, vomiting, lethargic, seemingly in a lot of pain, etc.
But she always pulls through (she's a real fighter) and she'll be fine for a week. This last visit to
the ER we were much more concerned because neither she nor the boys had any cold like symptoms, just vomiting every 10-20
minutes for a couple days. We were fearing it was getting worse and more frequent but today (10/17) was a really good
day for her.
How are the boys doing?
Anya's two
big brothers are doing great and we are so proud of them. They both show a ton of awareness and love for her.
Anders and Aksel will both go over to her randomly through out the day and give hugs and kisses or just talk to her.
Anders is even starting to know how to operate her feeding pump. Suprisingly, Anders has never asked 'why'
regarding anything with her and that kid asks why with everything..
What is
you 'level of concern' with her?
This is a question we learned to ask the doctors
very early on. We are very concerned. It is strange how our concerns have changed through
this experience. First we were concerned we wouldn't be able to bring her home from the hospital in the same two
days it took to get the boys home. Then concerned she may have to stay a week in the NICU, then two weeks, then we didn't
care how long, we just wanted her home safely.
More recently we were concerned she my have developmental delays,
then that she may not eat orally until she's two, then that she may have suffered brain damage, then that she may have
Cerebral Palsy.
Now we would gladly take any one of our previous concerns. Time and testing will tell, but
we are very concerned and praying hard.
